UV Unwrapping in Autodesk Maya

To unwrap a model and export a PNG for texturing in photoshop

  1. Select the model or models
  2. Open ‘UV’ > ‘UV Editor’
  3. In the UV Editor window go to ‘Image’ > ‘UV Snapshot’
  4. Change format to PNG (Has an alpha channel so will have transparency)
  5. Increase the size (Over 2000 is ok)
  6. Set the filename, make sure it is in the ‘Images’ folder of the current project
  7. Click ‘Apply and close’
