The Hypershade is the central working area of Maya rendering.
- Windows > Rendering Editors > HyperShade
- Or by clicking the ball icon with the reflection (Looks like a weird eye), next to the render buttons in the top menu
- Great for previewing materials
- The ‘Material Viewer’ on the right can be set to use either the maya renderer or Arnold by changing the value in the dropdown at the top left dropdown
- The top middle dropdown changes the object type, you can choose things like cloth or teapot to preview the material
- The 3rd dropdown is the lighting options, you can select interior and exterior lighting to the object
- Below the Material Viewer are options identical to the attribute editor
- Materials can be edited in this section also
